The Sweet Taste of Trying Something New

I’m not a very good baker but I’ve taken a cake decorating class and I really wanted to put that skill to work! I love the idea of a roll up cake. Sounded fun! But I’m not very good at following instructions either – the recipe for the mocha roll up cake frosting seemed too complex. So I made a simple cake (per the recipe among other Googled tips to make it roll nicely). Then I whipped a Jell-o packet with a cream cheese bar for the frosting instead. Though my cake decorating skills could use some a lot more improvement, it was an experiment that actually turned out well!

In life, you get a ‘recipe book’ but it is up to you to personalize it and make it your own. Don’t be afraid to try something new. If the recipe is too complex, just make something up. No one is the wiser (in my household, anyway).
